Cool Stuff New Toy
Posted by Chris on Sunday, August 13, 2006 (05:48:02) (256 reads)

The perks of a new job are always awesome. I especially like this one: A brand new laptop. Check it out (and yes, I did steal the picture from newegg... shhhh).

Anyway, it is an HP NC6400, and it is awesome. Its got quite a few features not even listed on newegg or HP's website for that matter that are really cool. I don't know why they don't list em (like the ambient light sensor that automatically increases and decreases the brightness of the screen depending on how light it is where you are... and it actually works!)

Anyway, here is the newegg link if you want to look at it more Smile

Chris' Ramble "The Natural Leader"
Posted by Chris on Sunday, July 30, 2006 (20:15:07) (260 reads)

So I took this quiz to see if I would make a good business manager. It is probably a bunch of crock... but it was still fun. It even had a little thing to post the results on my website... perfect! So here is what they gave me:

Would you make a good business manager?

The Natural Leader

If you want to move up the ranks, you probably have what it takes to make that climb! You're creative, assertive, and empathetic. You easily draw groups together and enjoy heading them up. Most promissing, you enjoy bringing out the best in others. You have high expectations of them - possibly higher than they have of themselves - and you're prepared to do what it takes to help them realize that potential. Just be mindful not to let more superficially forceful characters push you out of the way.

ccurtis.net Good Wallpapers Are Hard To Find
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 (07:56:03) (238 reads)

Like I said in the title, good wallpapers are becoming hard to find. It seems a little weird with amount of information now on the internet as well as things become easier to find that a good desktop wallpaper for your computer is so hard to find.

Maybe its because of the vast number of them available on the internet now, or that people are so eager to make their own, that all the easiest ones to find are super crappy. Plus, as soon as I find a super nice one in a high resolution, you have to pay for it.

Since I am always on a search for good wallpapers, I have decided to start collecting them when I find them. And now, I have started to upload them here. I just added quite a few more "Widescreen" ones, and will hopefully be adding to the "Normal" sized ones shortly. Check em out, and if you have any nice ones to add, please do! As long as you have a username and are logged in, you can upload.

To get to the pictures, go to the Gallery --> Pics from the Web. There are two albums:
Wallpapers - Normal
and
Wallpapers - Widescreen

Enjoy!

Chris' Ramble Funny Mac Bashing

Well... I really don't hate macs this bad, and at times, I actually like them better than PC's, but I must admit, I do associate and have gotten frustrated at every single problem this guy rambles about. Enjoy...

Chris' Ramble A New Mantra
Posted by Chris on Sunday, June 04, 2006 (18:07:23) (304 reads)

Well, I must say... I have been might bad about keeping this blog updated. I seem to be on the once every other month scenario here. Well, I know I said this before, but I am seriously going to try and change that. Even if no one reads it (which I hope they would start doing if I stayed on top of it), it would just be cool to have a "online journal" or archive, or whatever you want to call it that I can go back and look at later.

I have never been much into journal writing, or really writing in general, but you know, having it so other people can stay connected with your life when they want to know about it, and having something that you can go back and look at later is actually pretty sweet. I used to think blogs were pretty lame, but you know, it was probably the blogs I was reading. They were pointless, not interesting, just random banter about nothing. I am going to try to change that with this one. So keep posted, hopefully I will live up to my own expectations. Take care,

Chris

Ok, so I don't know how many of you have seen the episode of Futurama the following clip is from... but it is REALLY FREAKIN RANDOM. But now I understand, it wasn't random at all. The clip is what Fry is showing the rest of Planet Express to be their new ad campaign.

And here is what they copied... A Apple Computer advertisement in 1984 played during the superbowl...

ccurtis.net New Feature! "Member Map"
Posted by Chris on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 (03:19:04) (278 reads)

I have just added a new feature to the web site which is pretty awesome. Friends and family are starting to get more and more scattered as time goes by. Friends slowly left for college, people started getting married, having kids, etc. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a graphical represention of where everybody is geographically located.

If you click on the Member Map link on the main menu, you will see a google map. It works the same way a google map normally does (you can click and drag, zoom, get a satellite view, etc), but has a major difference. On my map, you can zoom in and click on where you live, and then set that as your location. Everyone who does that will then get their own little flag on the map to show where they are, and if you click on the flag you see their profile information.

So check it out please, and enter your location into the map, it will be neat to where everybody is, especially if there is someone on this website you don't know, you might be able to figure it out when you see their location.

Enjoy!

Cool Stuff Neato Smart Phone
Posted by Chris on Saturday, February 11, 2006 (00:07:53) (254 reads)

So I have been carying around a phone AND a PDA for a long time now, but I really only ever use my PDA when I go to school, so it isn't all that helpfull when reminding me to do things other than school work. I didn't want to get one of those phone PDA things because I didn't really want to be talking into a calculator all the time. Then I found the Cingular branded 2125 SmartPhone. It is pretty sweet, and if I had an extra $300 I would totally get it.

It can sync up with Outlook for contacts, tasks, calendar, etc, just like a pda can. The only problem is that it doesn't have touch screen or a stylus. But that is ok, You should totally check it out. The screen is absolutely amazing, and the interface isn't bad either.

Chris' Ramble School is CRAZY BUSY
Posted by Chris on Friday, February 03, 2006 (02:12:48) (257 reads)

I don't know what is going on! It is only the second week of school and I am already busy beyond belief. I wake up, go to school, then I come home, and do more school... eat a little bit, then probably do some more school. This is rediculous. Are more of you (those of you that are going to school right now) noticing the same thing? Its like all my professors got together and said, "You know what would be really awesome to do this semester..." They are probably all having a pow-wow right now laughing at us. Hopefully this will not be the pace of the semester the whole time, or else prepare for a very stressed out Tofer (thats me btw).

Chris' Ramble Back to School Again
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 (23:17:29) (260 reads)

Wow, well it doesn't seem very long since I was last writing about going back to school. Maybe I should keep up a little better with my writings. It is pretty amazing though how fast time has flown by. Last semester seemed to all of a sudden just end, and then our fabulous 5 weeks of vacation just flew by. But now I am back in class again, and have completed the first day of each of my classes.

All my classes seem to be pretty interesting this year, well... all except my basic basic Chemistry class I needed for a GE requirement. I am taking: Marketing Research, Managing Project Teams, Employment Law, and Comparative Peace Studies. All my professors seem very interested in their topic so hopefully all will go well this semester and I will stay interested in all my classes.

Only time will tell for this semester though, as last semester the class I was most excited about and seemed like it could be the most interesting turned out to be the most boring and one that I really can only remember two trivial things from.

Hopefully this semester I will be more on top of keeping up-to-date with my posts, so check back often for updates. If anything the gallery is always being updated so check there too! Take care everyone, and good luck on this semester if you are in school as well!

Chris' Ramble Christmas is Coming!
Posted by Chris on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 (07:00:00) (303 reads)

Christmas is coming closer and closer and I am very excited because that means a couple of things. Gift exchanges are coming, family gatherings are coming, NO SCHOOL IS COMING, and of course, a new ccurtis.net theme to boot.

The new Holiday theme is currently set as default, but if you have a theme set in your preferences, you might not see it, so Click Here to Switch!

Today, Wednesday December 14, marks the last day of another semester at Chico state. Finals are now over, and the bliss that is a 5 week vacation begins. Hopefully I will be able to make it up skiing a couple times over break since I will not be busy every day of the week like I was up until now.

Christmas break also brings my Father's Birthday, January 1st, and My Girlfriend Laura's 21st Birthday on January 11th!

If you havent' noticed, I am looking forward to this break a great deal. I hope everyone has a great holiday and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas

ccurtis.net The New Look
Posted by Chris on Friday, September 30, 2005 (02:28:38) (287 reads)

I have added a new theme to ccurtis.net, and have now made it the default theme. It is called, "Sandstone." If the site looks like the picture to the right then you are seeing the new theme. If not you probably have a different theme set in your preferences, and you can preview the new theme by clicking on the image to the right.

If you would like to permanently set this as your theme, go to your account preferences and set it to "Sandstone."

Let me know if you like it, or if there are any problems. There are still some things I am going to change, but for the most part this is it.

Puzzles Bags of Dollars

Divide $571 (in whole $ increments) into a number of bags so that I can ask for any amount between $1 and $571, and you can give me the proper amount by giving me a certain number of these bags without opening them. What is the minimum number of bags you will require?
